FAQ

Can foreigner own property in Iran?

Yes, within the framework of the law and bylaws of aliens’ proprietorship, ownership of land within the confines of personal use is allowed for foreign natural persons. Establishing the ownership [however] requires acquiring special permit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Are aliens permitted to own land in Iran for industrial and agricultural purposes?

No, owning land for industrial and agricultural purposes is considered to be in excess of personal needs and are not permissible.

How is the procedure of land proprietorship in foreign investment plan in Iran?

Foreign nationals are not allowed to own land; however, if the foreign investment project leads to establishing an Iranian firm, the firm with an Iranian nationality will be authorized to own land.
